Set It Off is a movie about four friends driven to bank robbing by (basically) racism and sexism. I am not a robbery apologist, but the movie pulls at your heart from the very first scene.
Most of the characters are straight, but Queen Latifah as Cleo (the finest cornrowed stud you every did see) was the first stud I ever saw in primetime as a kid. Her character is rich, full of love & compassion, and her girlfriend is an etheral baddie.
TW: SADDEST MOVIE ENDING IN HISTORY.
