LGBTQ+ director Alice Wu’s feature debut is this pretty adorable rom com which is definitely a coming out story but goes beyond that to explore themes around cultural expectations, family bonds, and being true to oneself above all else. It features a majority Asian cast to tell a Chinese – American story in both English and Mandarin.
