Out Of Africa’ exhibition opens 16th April running through to the 28th at the Bondi Pavilion Gallery
This fascinating exhibition opened yesterday with its launch night tonight in Bondi. The work is breathtaking in the way the Louisa has captured so much emotion and splendour of the tribal groups and really highlights the harshness and beauty of the environment that surrounds them.
The collection acts as a visual gateway into an immersive world that relays to the viewer a desire (on the part of both subject and artist) to reconnect this ‘timeless’ Africa with a future that celebrates life and its endlessly-shifting rhythms.
Louisa reflects on her work “I am portraying them as they are, not as they are depicted within Western mainstream media sources – a continent full of poverty and wracked by wars… I see so much beauty in Africa, and I want to show the fullness of such magnificence to the world through my creative connection to this continent and her people.”
A percentage of the proceeds from sales of Louisa’s work will be donated to Survival International (www.survivalinternational.
Over the past decade, Louisa has been involved in several solo and joint exhibitions in London and Sydney. Her last exhibition that took place at the Bondi Pavilion was a resounding success, with Patron of the Arts, James Erskine (of Liverpool Street Gallery in Sydney) buying up the entire collection.
