World’s Largest All-Girl Wedding And Renewal Ceremony

Bride Pride is coming to Provincetown this month!

The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum (PMPM) announced that it will be the site of Bride Pride, the world’s largest lesbian wedding, on July 22, 2017. The event will feature hundreds of women declaring their never-ending love for each other beneath the stunningly sun-soaked and surreal July sky during Provincetown’s Girl Splash Week. Women taking part in the event will be legally married by award-winning, irreverent Reverend-for-the-day, LGBTQ icon Kate “Mad Vow” Clinton.

“Bride Pride isn’t only an event but a story that ties the community together and shows the color of the 'gay nation’ right now, given the political climate. The message of same love, continues to shine brighter than ever for all of us. It has to,” said Ilene Mitnick, co-creator and producer of Bride Pride. “Allison and I are learning to LOVE bigger and bolder. We are refusing to be invisible and want to show the world what love looks like. It’s our weapon of choice this year!”

Ilene and Alli not only started and continue to run Bride Pride but they are also the owners of Roux, a unique bed and breakfast located in the East End Gallery district of Provincetown, Mass. They are both passionate about Provincetown being known as a destination for women and top of mind for the LBGTQ community when it comes time to tie the knot.

“We’re hoping hundreds – maybe even thousands- of women will once again come to our beloved town, and in the shadow of the Pilgrim Monument, a testament to freedom and equality, profess their love for each other,” said Alli Baldwin, co-creator and producer of Bride Pride. “We are also hoping to attract notable couples who want to become part of the story. We want celebrities, pro-athletes, news anchors, politicians and more. Our invitation is universal – we want brides from around the globe.”

On behalf of those married, Bride Pride will make a donation to Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund, which works to end homelessness among LGBT youth, creating a world in which young people can be their true selves.

“Here in Provincetown we embrace the right to marry,” said Dr. David Weidner, Executive Director at PMPM. “We are excited to be the chosen venue for one of the biggest events of the summer and look forward to the celebration.”

Now in its tenth year, Girl Splash is a week-long women's event spiked with parties, performers, events and everything beautiful Provincetown has to offer in the height of the summer season. Provincetown is the perfect backdrop for a wedding. It's filled with stories of love, equality and acceptance and is meant to be shared with lovers.

About the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum

Dedicated in 1910, the Monument commemorates the first landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims in the ‘new world’—in Provincetown in 1620.  Here they signed the historic Mayflower Compact, the first agreement to establish a government by the people, the cornerstone of American democracy. They explored the Cape for five weeks before sailing on to Plymouth. At 252 feet, the Monument is an engineering marvel and the tallest granite tower in the United States. Visitors can climb the Monument’s 116 steps and 60 ramps at a leisurely pace and enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire Cape and visit the webcam for a live “View from the Top.”

The Provincetown Museum at the base of the Monument presents engaging exhibitions of important chapters in our national heritage and the Town’s history and is a partner in Plymouth 400 in 2020, the anniversary of the Mayflower voyage and founding of the Plymouth Colony. Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum is a non-profit educational, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
