Glee, the Fox musical comedy won big time at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards.

Good, truly gay television does not come along often, but when it does we know it, and what a relief that others do, too!

Clever creator Ryan Murphy and his compulsively watchable cast received the trophy for outstanding comedy series at last Saturday’s ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

The series has some more delights in store: with shades of Constance McMillen, sweet-cheeked soprano Kurt Hummel gets to go to a prom with his boyfriend.

Speaking of Ms. McMillen, the lesbian prom protester presented out comedian Wanda Sykes with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, which is bestowed upon an openly gay member of the entertainment community for helping to eliminate homophobia.

Also nice was that dishy chef Cat Cora gave Drew Barrymore an award for being a wonderful cheerleader, and that Adam Lambert, who, thanks to the American people, didn’t win American Idol, has emerged as the talent he truly is.

Coming out is still hard work, but watching it sure is fun!
