The comedian appeals for unity following the Presidential Election.
In the latest edition of her TV show, Ellen DeGeneres used her monologue to speak about the presidential election. The episode was actually recorded the day before the results were announced, but her words may still offer comfort and light relief for viewers.
The talk show host chose to look on the bright side of life, saying, “People have been very passionate about this race and I think it’s because we all love our country. We just have different ideas about what’s best for it.”
She continued, “I believe we can all come together because if you take away the labels you realize we’re far more alike than we are different.”
Using her trademark observational comic style, Ellen did her best to unite viewers with the laughter of recognition:
“It doesn’t matter if you’re liberal or conservative, we’ve all passed out watching Netflix and woke up not knowing what episode we’re on, what season we’re on, whose couch we’re on.”
She finished off with an animal clip to lift everyone’s spirits. If you’re in need of a boost, scroll down to watch her monologue now.
