Only Human, a community-based organization that exists to make the world a better place by celebrating the things that make people “only human,” has partnered with the Marsha P. Johnson Institute to raise awareness around the Black Lives Matter movement, and even more so, around Black transgender people.
For the month of July, 10 percent of all profits will be donated to support the institute’s work to protect and defend the human rights of Black transgender individuals by organizing, advocating, creating an internal community to heal, developing transformative leadership, and promoting their collective power.
“We strongly believe that humans are Better Together and we have a responsibility to protect our friends and loved ones in the Black transgender community,” said Bree Pear founder of Only Human.
“Authentic allyship happens not in our words, but in our eyes, ears, hearts, and actions. We cannot accept a world that does not provide safety, acceptance, inclusion, and equality for Black lives.”
Marsha P. Johnson was an activist, self-identified drag queen performer, and survivor.
As a Black transgendered woman and an icon of the gay liberation movement, she helped create a world where the LGBTQ+ community could find themselves and truly embrace who they are and has been a large influence over Pride. Some say, without her, there would be no Pride.
“How many years has it taken people to realize that we are all brothers and sisters and human beings in the human race?” said, Marsha P. Johnson
In addition to July’s partnership, Only Human launched it’s We Stand With You Tee in support of racial equality and in less than a month, has raised over $10,000. 100 percent of the tee’s proceeds will also be donated to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute for the lifetime of Only Human’s existence.
