Zoe Lyons, LGBTQ artwork, a Pink Picnic and more”¦
Happy Valley Pride is a week-long, fun-filled festival celebrating LGBTQ+ life in Hebden Bridge and the surrounding areas. Now in its second year, it has something for everyone, from human rights and documentary cinema to live music and stand-up comedy.
On Tuesday there’s the Heroes Art Exhibition Launch Night, which will showcase around 30 pieces of original artwork from local artists inspired by the LGBTQ Heroes theme. There will also be live music from singer and pianist Matt Millership, who has been described by MOJO as a “chameleon with an ear for the unexpected”. Also on tomorrow is Lesbian Writers Read, a free event featuring five lesbian authors reading extracts of their work in a cosy haberdashery and wool shop.
Other highlights include a performance from the hilarious Zoe Lyons. She’s bringing her stand-up show Little Misfit to Hebden Bridge. We’re huge fans of Zoe here at DIVA HQ and even interviewed her for our latest issue. She is bound to be brilliant.
There’s also a screening of joyous film Pride, a drag workshop hosted by House of Decay and the fab Pink Picnic on Sunday afternoon. Plus loads more exciting events. For more details, including the full programme of events, check out happyvalleypride.com.
It’s shaping up to be a glorious week of rainbow stripey fun. Happy Valley Pride, everyone!
