If I’m honest, this album should be everyone’s unashamed desire.
Just as the opening lyric states in Missy’s 2012 release, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle, she has a lot to say, but the comparison ends there since she has most certainly figured out how to say it.
With energy and passion crammed into every lyric and note, Missy wastes no time getting to core of just who Missy is- a phenomenal songwriter who has a serious knack for making your foot tap and your emotions run free.
Her third album is the breath of fresh air that fans had been clamoring for after her brief departure from the music scene.
Teaming up with Butterfly Boucher and Brad Jones allowed a new sound to be explored and, by the sound of things, the creativity was turned all the way up. From Set Me On Fire’s finger-snapping charms and sultry delivery it’s not hard to see the maturity that comes with this album.
Jumping from the piano driven Everyone’s Waiting to a disco flavored Temporary Love, Missy opens up new avenues we’re more than willing to explore with her throughout this album. Never settling for one sound she shows how music was meant to be experienced- exciting, unexpected, and oh-so-easy on the ears.
Making that lump in your throat become a full blown ugly-cry fest on Everyone’s Waiting is how we’ve come to love Missy, but the hope that always seems to overcome the sorrow shows it’s face in Hidden Ones.
Every track becomes a part of you that you’ll inevitably find a connection with and revisit time and time again. I often wonder if that gentle Australian accent has cast a spell on each ear it befalls, making it just that much easier to fall in love with Missy’s gift.
