Five reasons why we wish these five amazing female athletes were lesbians.
Did you catch the WNBA All-Star game last week? If you didn’t see it, then you missed one of the best games in WNBA history. So much talent on one court is one thing, but when you add in a close, competitive game, it means so much more. The WNBA is full of promise, with a new and exciting younger generation of players taking over the reigns of league.
Skylar Diggins
Not only can she ball, she’s also drop-dead-gorgeous. She’s signed to Jay-Z’s sports agency and has endorsement deals with Nike, Sprint and even her own headband line. She’s the perfect mix of sexy and sporty. And, along with the likes of Drake and other adoring celebrities, her Instagram page is full of lesbian admirers—including myself.
Alas, Diggins is not gay. And she’s not the only straight athlete that lesbians crush on, either. Here are four more talented and beautiful straight athletes we wish were lesbians, and the reasons why:
Sydney Leroux
Sydney Leroux captured our hearts at the 2012 Summer Olympics, when she helped the U.S. Women’s Soccer team win a gold medal. She’s spunky, tough and ripped—which is why she’s featured in this year’s ESPN the Magazine: Body Issue. She’s a pretty-faced tomboy with a chip on her shoulder, and she’s not afraid to go after what she wants—even if it means slide tackling an opponent to get it.
Danica Patrick
There’s something sexy about a woman who drives a racecar. Let’s be honest—there’s something sexy about Danica Patrick. She’s a sporty femme who’s not afraid to mix it up with the boys, and get down and greasy. Driving a car at full speed around a circular track takes guts and determination, and Patrick has plenty of both. She’s also incredibly business savvy, racking up endorsement deals worth millions of dollars. If you’ve ever seen her GoDaddy.com commercials, you know she’s not afraid of using her sex appeal to her advantage.
Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) badass. Point. Blank. Period. She even challenged Floyd Mayweather to a fight, and he’s considered by many to be the best boxer in the world. With movie star looks and a butch demeanor, you’d never have to worry about walking down a dark alley with Rousey by your side. She has dominated every single MMA match she’s competed in over the past few years, and some analysts say that no other female fighter in the world can beat her. Rousey recently put her movie star looks to good use when she starred in The Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7.
Dara Torres
Former Olympic Swimmer, Dara Torres proves that some women just get better with age. Over the course of her career, this femme fatale has tallied a dozen Olympic medals and became the oldest member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Swim Team at age 33. Torres continued to swim competitively well into her forties, and even tried out again for 2012 Olympic Swim Team at age 45. Naturally, she is the author of the memoir, Age Is Just A Number.
