Black Lesbian DIY Fest announces the 2nd Black Lesbian DIY Fest held at the LGBT Community Center, NYC.
Hey, all New York, NY ladies, here’s an event to put in your calendar! The Black Lesbian DIY Fest will take place Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 12pm-6pm at 208 West 13th Street, New York, NY.
Black Lesbian DIY Fest, established in 2014 is a gathering event for self-identified black lesbians to showcase independent, small press books, zines, art posters, pamphlets, other DIY print based items, films, workshops, and presentations. The mission of the fest is to promote black lesbians within the community, to encourage the sharing of ideas, skills and tangible products.
The DIYFest itself will feature many activities and opportunities for networking, including:
- Vending of print based materials such as zines, small press books, chapbooks, posters, pamphlets by or about self-identified black lesbians, and other DIY print based materials.
- Films on or about black lesbian experiences.
- Established and emerging authors, filmmakers, feminist centered small presses, community activists leading workshops and skill-shares.
- Raffle with zine packs, books, art prints and films donated by participating authors, artists, filmmakers, and sponsors.
The DIY Fest is open to all and free to attend. Donations are suggested for attendees, whatever you can afford to give. Fees apply for vendors only ($20/$40). It is free to screen a film or register a workshop.
