Queer Booth creator Jo Webber talks about her photo booth app that is catered to the LGBT community.
Queer Booth, available for download in the iPhone App Store, is the brainchild of noted lesbian social media maven and activist Jo Webber.
Queer Booth, which releases its 1.2 version soon, allows users to take a selfie and then dress up in a variety of different clothes, accessories and fun options that are queer oriented. Webber notes that, “there are a variety of looks that can be chosen within the app, everything from bear to fem to fetish.”
The idea came to her in 2012 and even though this was her first foray into the app development world, her years of tech experience working for Google and other companies helped her launch the project successfully. “I self funded the project, which really turned into several years’ worth of work to make it happen,” she reveals.
Webber, who starred in the London-based lesbian reality show, Candy Bar Girls in 2011, has been a social activist for the LGBT community for a long time.
In the future, Webber plans on developing partnerships with LGBT based fashion companies to expand the app’s potential.
