Prince on Andy Allo: “We knew she’d be leading her own revolution soon”

Introducing singer-songwriter Andy Allor

Cameroon-born singer-songwriter Andy Allo has released her newest music video to go alongside single 10,000 days, which we have to admit – we’re a little bit in love with.

The video for the single puts a queer spin on the classic tale of unrequited love, following two female best friends – one of whom is secretly smitten for the other (ah, the joys!). The track is one of four on her most recent EP One Step Closer, and in “true Allo fashion”, the artist has tapped into something her young audience are sure identify with.

“I think being in love with someone and not knowing how to tell them or not wanting to risk a friendship is something a lot of people can relate to”, said Allo, “that’s what this song and video is all about.”

Talking about her new, more acoustically-aligned work, Allo explains:

“I feel like this is just the beginning of my story. It’s a journey, but with every record I feel I’m getting closer to who I am as an artist and songwriter. There's still a lot I want to share with the world."

Known for working with Prince’s New Power Generation, Allo worked with the legend on her album Superconductor, which made it to number four on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in the US.

As well as her music, the 28-year-old also stars in the film Pitch Perfect 3 alongside Ruby Rose, Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick, which is due for release later this year.
