Queer singer-songwriter from Spain launches her hit single ‘Balloon’
Something Sapphic is happening in sunny Spain!
Beauty queen Miss Spain recently came out on Instagram and now, fresh out of Barcelona, super-talented queer electro-pop solo act That Girl With Dark Eyes (TGWDE) has released the perfect track for the end of summer, as if to celebrate what an amazing year it’s been for us girls.
“Balloon” is a feel-good, toe-tapping synth-pop experience that will have you feeling high as a kite, dancing and smiling in celebration of your good fortune. The track’s easy blend of electro-funk, soul, and hip-hop will please even the most discerning queer-girl ears.
“Balloon”—and TGWDE—is the brainchild of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Tiffany Garrett Sotomayor, who has us convinced that Tegan& Sara somehow had a love child with legendary performance artist Laurie Anderson.
TGWDE is a bit of a mystery although we can tell you that she has already collaborated with artists like RoddyBottum (Faith No More, Imperial Teen), John Collins (The New Pornographers) and, naturally, producer JC/DC (Tegan and Sara) and Stanley Gabriel (Goldfrapp, Ladyhawke, Little Boots, Kylie).
She’s also a rising live act, headlining Razzmatazz (Barcelona) alongside Skrillex and more recently opening for C.S.S. (Cansei de Ser Sexy) on their tour of Spain. We cannot wait to hear more from her.
