Performing with an 11 piece band, Kristin Chenoweth will cast a spell over Sydney Opera House audiences this June with material from her celebrated albums and music from the shows that have made her one of the most revered musical theatre performers of her generation.
“I have never been to Australia and I am so looking forward to it!, said Ms Chenoweth. “I have heard about so many great places to visit while I am there and I am especially looking forward to meeting my fans!”
Best known for performing the role of Glinda in the original cast of the smash hit musical Wicked, Kristin is one of Broadway’s most celebrated stars, she has garnered a multitude of theatrical achievements and appeared in over 40 film-reviewss and TV shows. Many remember her show-stealing, Tony-winning performance in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Over her illustrious career Kristin has also been invited to sing for President Obama, Her Majesty the Queen and TV royalty Oprah Winfrey. She received rave reviews while starring in the TV series Pushing Daisies, where she received an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Pushing Daisies was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and Emmy Award for ‘Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy’.
She has appeared in Fox’s comedy Glee, where she played a former student who comes back to help re-energize the Glee club. For this role, she was recently nominated for two Emmy Awards and for a People’s Choice Award in the category of ‘Favorite TV Guest Star’. Chenoweth also starred as Annabeth Schott on the hit drama The West Wing and guest judged on American Idol.
In 2010 Kristin was seen on Broadway as Fran Kubelik in the revival of Promises, Promises starring alongside Sean Hayes.
Chenoweth recently wrapped her debut world tour in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. While on tour, she performed songs from her latest album Some Lessons Learned, as well as an array of her most memorable songs and Broadway show tunes, including music from Wicked, Promises Promises, and Glee.
