The curtain is about to go up on award-winning playwright Susan Miller’s new play, Average American.

Sex is in the air. Politics are in play. And social media weighs in…as a dysfunctional writing team and cast put their artistic lives and personal relationships on the line to make a television series. About lesbians.

Miller is known for her contribution to hit shows like The L Word, Thirtysomething, and the award-winning hit indie web series Anyone But Me, which garnered 50 million views.

Susan Miller is the winner of multiple OBIE awards (My Left Breast, Nasty Rumors And Final Remarks) as well as The Writers Guild of America Award for the hit Indie webseries, Anyone But Me.

Her work has been produced by The Mark Taper Forum, The Public Theatre, Second Stage, Naked Angels, Louisville’s Humana Festival, Ojai Playwrights Conference, among others.

Her play 20th Century Blues will premiere in the 2016 Contemporary American Theatre Festival. Miller was a Consulting Producer on “The L Word” and worked in the room on “Thirtysomething.”

Her short film “The Grand Design” was directed by and starred Eric Stoltz. She is proud to be nominated for the 2016 Writers Guild of America Award in Original New Media.

Average American is directed by Abigail Deser (Boston Court, Steppenwolf, Ojai Playwrights Conference) and stars Liza Weil (How to Get Away with Murder and Gilmore Girls) & Jenny O’Hara (Transparent, The Mindy Project). With Nicole Pacent & Jessy Hodges (Anyone But Me.)
