Oil Wrestling, Trivia, Wheelbarrow Races, Arm Wrestling, Obstacle Course, 3-Legged Race, and Tug of War…for a great cause!
Morgan Faye announced that the 3rd Annual Lezlympics will take place in Los Angeles, CA on May 3, 2014. The event will feature 16 teams of lesbian or allied women competing in a series of athletic, comedic, and intellectual games. The competition is being held to crown one team of women “Lesbian All-Stars.”
“For my birthday in 2012, I wanted to celebrate by making a bunch of lesbians do wheelbarrow races. You know, a normal day in the park,” said Morgan Faye, creator of Lezlympics. “I left the event open so my friends could invite a few of their friends. Crazy thing happened. My little birthday party took on a life of its own. Seems lesbians are super keen on doing push ups. The oil wresting probably didn’t hurt. Thus, the beast that is Lezlympics was born.”
Proceeds from the event will be going to AIDS/LifeCycle, a 7-day, 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that raises money and awareness for the HIV and AIDS services of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation. “The goal is to get more women involved in the ride,” remarked Morgan Faye. “It’s a perfect partnership.”
The 3rd Annual Lezlympics will be held at The Old Lodge in Elysian Park, next to Dodger Stadium, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10:00AM-6:00PM. The event will include the following core challenges: Oil Wrestling, Trivia, Wheelbarrow Races, Arm Wrestling, Obstacle Course, 3-Legged Race, and Tug of War. There will be a live DJ, Full Bar, Bounce House, Food and much, much more!
