Kara Barnard, lesbian cartoonist, brings a smile to your screen.
Meet artist Kara Barnard, who began her cartooning career at the age of 2 in 1964…using crayon on wall.
In 1967 she was discovered by an incredibly beautiful 17 year old woman that always dressed in bib overalls, drew really well, smelled really good and wrote for the high school paper, "The Cardinal.” In fact, Kara's cartoons, often depicting young girls playing football, were first published in the Cardinal in 1968.
Kara studied art briefly at Indiana University and her cartoons were featured regularly in several gay and lesbian publications including Chicago’s Windy City Times as well as books, murals, and maps.
In this space each month we’ll be featuring a cartoon by this brilliant lesbian cartoonist.
