From Spanish award-winning director Sonia Sebastian (de Chica en Chica) comes a new feature film shining a light on both LGBTQ communities and women in tech. Written by playwright Amy Dellagiarino and Lisa Cordileone (Easy Abby), this comedy film gives a unique perspective on the lives of the often-forgotten women in tech changing the landscape of the industry.
Featuring a headline cast including Alexandra Billings (Transparent), Natasha Negovanlis (Carmilla), Jennifer Bartels (American Woman), Mouzam Makkar (Champions) and Megan Cavanagh (A League of Their Own), Freelancers Anonymous follows character Billie’s desperate need for a change after quitting her job just months before getting married.
Billie, played by Lisa Cordileone, finds herself at a crossroad while the reaction from her fiancée Gayle isn’t what she’s expecting. After meeting a “ragtag group of women” also looking for employment, Billie’s struck with the idea of cultivating their combined skillsets to create an app for freelancers like themselves. Now all they have to do is build it…
The film recently wrapped principal photography earlier this month and has moved into post-production in conjunction with the launch of their funding campaign on Seed & Spark, with non-profit sponsor, Full Spectrum Features, a Chicago-based film and video production company dedicated to increasing diversity in the media arts.
