Out-Fit Challenge, following last year’s successful debut, has announced they will be expanding their 5K cross-country trail Mud Run to other cities including Reno, San Francisco, Boston, New York City. This year, the event in NYC will take place on June 21, 2014 at Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center in Tuxedo Park; the Reno, Nevada event on September 20, 2014 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park; the Boston, Massachusetts event on October 11, 2014 at Amesbury Sports Park; and the San Francisco, California event on December 13, 2014 at Solano County Fair. These cities were selected based on Out-Fit Challenge’s voting contest, where the public received a chance to choose the city of their next major sporting event. Tickets to participate in the events begin at $55 per person with group discounts provided.
The Out-Fit Challenge was founded by the amazing Tory Fitzgerald, who made it the mission of the Out-Fit Challenge to extend in all directions, reaching all kinds of people from all kinds of places. And so far Out-Fit Challenge has been wildly successful, receiving participants from all over the states. People are brought together over the shared experience of fantastic and challenging courses that everyone can enjoy and feel accomplished about at the finish line.
The sport event features over 15 military style obstacles such as the “Cherry Picker,” “Is that Mud in Your Pants,” and “Hello Sailor.” To celebrate the victory of finishing the course, there will be an afterparty at the finish line that will be hosted by local drag queens with varied selection of dance beats by local DJs, as well as a wide selection of delicious food and drinks.
The organization doesn’t just put on amazing race events; it also aims to aid national and local charities that are making a significant difference in the lives of LGBT individuals across the US. This event has grown to be a state-to-state national event open to all supporters of the LGBT community to bring awareness to Family Equality Council. Out-Fit Challenge’s mission is to create a competitive experience that people will love, while also giving everyone an opportunity to feel a sense of community through fun challenges.
So grab some friends, lace up your shoes and get ready to get fit, have fun and maybe even get dirty at one of the best LGBT-allied racing events in the US.
