A stunning new work created by comic actress, Liz Skitch playing a myriad of everyday Australians who all have one thing in common: they are SPOILT
Parodying everyone from inner city workaholics to suburban dog owners, self-improvement junkies to newly-weds, no one is safe in this exploration of humanity’s over-indulgence.
Directed by Fiona Scott Norman, SPOILT flips the dark side of narcissism and self-improvement sunnyside up in this electric comedy masterpiece.
Skitch was inspired to make the show when she was flicking through glossy magazines and feeling sickened by all the ads encourage us to 'treat', 'indulge' or 'spoil’ ourselves. Then she stumbled on an article, describing ‘Miss Universe Australia’ as ‘incredibly down to earth’ and Skitch knew she found her first victim.
Skitch has a lot in common with the infamous Sacha Baron Cohen. Both trained at the school of Philippe Gaulier in London, this is where both Skitch and Sacha discovered the power of disguise and satire, but it was a baptism into comedy by fire. “Philippe is the toughest audience member you’ll ever have”, says Skitch. Baron Cohen compares training with Gaulier to open heart surgery… “without the anaesthetic”.
