Rain Dove wows the fashion crowd in New Yorks Men’s Fashion week
Androgynous/a-gender supermodel Rain Dove cuts a stunning figure in the fashion industry. The female model has taken the fashion industry by storm since modeling in both menswear and womenswear, and is now walking in four fashion shows at the inaugural New York City Men’s Fashion Week.
Dove’s modeling truly demonstrates that gender is a cultural construct and a form of human expression—making many in and outside of the fashion industry question the concept of gender.
“I’m not trying to pretend to be a man when I wear menswear. I’m trying to be myself,” says Dove.“Because I would buy these styles and therefore I am the target market too, and deserve to be represented as a human.
“I don’t feel like I’m breaking gender barriers. I feel it’s more like addressing personal barriers. The walls we put up around ourselves to bar ourselves from different experiences and explorations because of fear, fear of societal opinion and impediment of success. My goal with my career is simple, to encourage people to live the life they love limitlessly,” said Dove.
Four forward thinking fashion brands featured Dove in their shows to demonstrate that men’s fashion is a look that can be enjoyed by many.
Rain Dove can currently be seen in two viral campaigns, including as the first topless female face of a menswear brand, Ace Rivington. Dove has also been featured in W, Vogue, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, People, Bustle, Styleite, Fortune, The Miami Herald, 20minutos, Marie Claire, Mashable, Dapifer, The New York Times, and many more. She is also a humanitarian, who volunteers weekly for non-profits focusing on homelessness, LGBT rights, and environmental causes.
