A book tour about coming out aims to bring communities together.
This is a Book for the Parents of Gay Kids is a new plain-English resource for—obviously—parents of gay kids. It’s a simple concept, but a much-needed resource that does not exist and could help countless parents who are struggling to understand their child’s sexuality.
Issues and questions addressed in the book include “I’m worried that my child won’t ever have a family”; “This goes against my beliefs, but I want to support my child”; and “I think my very young child might be gay. What should I do?”
This fall, the book’s two authors Dannielle Owens-Reid and Kristin Russo will embark on a 21-city tour to promote the publication just in time for National Coming Out Day on October 11. Owens-Reid and Russo have been conducting dialogues with LGBTQ youth for over four years through their award-winning website, Everyone is Gay, on Facebook and Twitter.
