Lily Loveless stars in an award winning film, exploring female sexuality and identity
KL Dream Pictures and M4West Media have joined forces to bring to the screen promising young director Kate Lane’s own personal and intimate story.
Fear of Water has already been screened at six international film festivals and picked up two awards at the Monaco International Film Festival for Best Actor and Best Original Score.
The film stars Lily Loveless (Skins) as Alexia and newly discovered talent Chloe Partridge as Eleanor. The story revolves around two teenage girls who come from different socio-economic backgrounds. Following a tragic event, their paths collide together and they discover a deep friendship and a sexual awakening that changes them forever.
The film features a high profile supporting cast including Marcia Warren (TwoTime Olivier Award winner) Sara Stewart (Sugar Rush/The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Alex Macqueen (Inbetweeners/I give it a year)
The story is inspired by events from Kate Lane ‘s own life. “I wanted to bring to the screen a thought provoking story about the complexity of female relationships. I hope that it will begin to bring some clarity and comfort for what can be a very confusing and frightening time for many young women.”
Producer Rebecca Tranter comments: Fear of Water is one of the few British films directed by a female and featuring a predominantly female cast and production crew. We feel women are underrepresented in the industry and we hope this film inspires other young female directors to tell their stories.”
The film’s score is written by award winning composer Benson Taylor who was accompanied by six female singer songwriters. Kate handpicked all the artists hoping to give undiscovered talent a platform.
The DVD will feature exclusive footage that has never been seen before. Internationally, the film is being represented by California Pictures and will be released in the US next year.
