These queer lovebirds will give you all the feels
The queer community has come a long way in the past 20 years. When Ellen DeGeneres came out in 1997, she was hounded by the media and her self-titled show was cancelled soon after.
Things still aren’t perfect, but they’re a hell of a lot better. So to celebrate how far we’ve come, here’s a list of the ultimate lez/bi couples who are #goals.
ELLEN DEGENERES AND PORTIA DE ROSSI
Of course, it’s only fair to begin with everyone’s favourites: Ellen De Generes and Portia de Rossi.
They’ve been melting gay hearts since 2004, celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary earlier on this year. California voted to legalise same-sex marriage in 2008 and Ellen and Portia were married soon after.
Cute. Portia even appeared as a guest on The Ellen Show in February this year to present Ellen with her 60th birthday present. If that isn’t #goals, we don’t know what is.
SAMIRA WILEY AND LAUREN MORELLI
Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli, aka everyone’s favourite OITNB couple.
The pair met on set five years ago, began dating, and were married in 2017.
Aw. Lauren popped the question while they were on holiday together in Palm Springs in 2016. Samira was completely shell-shocked (but said “yes”, of course).
Their wedding was a small affair, but the world has since been blessed with gorgeous photos of their day.
3. ELLEN PAGE AND EMMA PORTNER
Ellen Page and Emma Portner started off 2018 with a bang by announcing that they’d got married.
Twenty-gay-teen is real. The two have combined their talents of dancing and acting to perform together.
They’ve even discussed collabing on a film. Direct quote from Ellen Page about her lovely new wife: “I’m her biggest fan.” Cue the hearts of queer women all over the world bursting.
4. KING PRINCESS AND AMANDLA STENBERG
Mikaela Straus (aka rising star King Princess) and partner Amandla Stenberg are all shiny and new. The couple have been posting suggestive Instagrams for a while now, and have recently confirmed their relationship. Queer Twitter is obsessed with them, and we are too. They even appeared at the MTV VMAs together a couple of weeks ago and, of course, gifted the internet with some heart-swelteringly adorable photos. They even held hands. It was like lesbian Christmas.
