œPolitical Animals Is A Doco That Shines Light On Out Californian Politicians

We stand on their shoulders: this new documentary remembers four incredible women.

As much as we might sometimes feel that we are hitting our heads against a brick wall when it comes to legislative progress in regards to LGBTQI rights and LGBTQI inclusion, we must (even if just for our own mental health) take the time to stop, remember and acknowledge the brave LGBTQI women who have come before us. These women fought to get us to where we are now, which, although certainly not ideal, is a damn sight better than what they had.

We are therefore happy to alert you to the fact that new, award-winning LGBTQI knockout documentary “Political Animals” will release DVD & VOD on June 6th in the U.S. and Canada via Gravitas Ventures.

“Political Animals” is an inspiring portrait of four defiant, out, female California politicians: Carole Migden, Sheila Kuehl, Jackie Goldberg, and Christine Kehoe, who bravely fought hatred and homophobia through pioneering legislative efforts in California to make political history, paving the way for success in the fight for Equality, and to create lasting and significant social change.

Political Animals documents the tough struggles they endured together, and celebrates their pioneering success in the fight for Equality and the sweet victories these unforgettable women created to pave the way for lasting and significant social change.

Directed by Jonah Markowitz (Shelter), co-directed by Tracy Wares (DP: Bomb It, Gay Republicans), and produced by Anne Clement (Quinceañera, Pedro, Ping Pong Playa) and Chris Panizzon (Pedro, Highland Park, Shelter), this is one to watch.
