The out comic earned plenty of laughs and gasps at the Annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
There were no pulled punches Saturday night when funny lady Wanda Sykes took to the podium at the Annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The out comic cracked wise about everything from the President’s tendency to be photographed sans shirt to waterboarding political pundit Sean Hannity.
While Republicans and Democrats alike found themselves to be the butt of the joke, Sykes saved her most biting humor for the right-wing – and the politically diverse audience made for some fantastically awkward moments. Half the fun of the video is watching the audience reaction to Skyes’ more blue and/or incendiary jokes. A mixture of guffaws and boos met several of her punchlines, in particular when she accused right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh of treason.
“Rush Limbaugh says he hopes this administration fails, so you’re saying I hope America fails…to me, that’s treason, he’s not saying anything different than what Osama Bin Laden’s been saying. I think you might want to look into this, I think maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight…l hope this country fails? I hope his kidney fails!”
With 15 minutes of side-splitting humor, Sykes proved she not only has the comedic talent to skewer with brilliantly brutal jokes, but the chops to deliver them.
