Seriously guys. Ilene Chaiken, Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey and Jennifer Beals tweeted to confirm.
The long-awaited L Word sequel is officially in development at Showtime, according to Buzzfeed News. This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not a drill.
The report has been shared on Twitter by show creator Ilene Chaiken and cast members Kate Moennig, Jennifer Beals and Leisha Hailey. Here's the tweet-shaped proof:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! 'The L Word' Sequel In The Works at Showtime https://t.co/f931L7nYrZ via @ew @Showtime

The L Word 2.0 will feature a new ensemble cast alongside three of the original cast members. That's right. Jennifer, Kate and Leisha will be back as Bette, Shane and Alice. The three iconic actors will also serve as executive producers on the show.
This news may not be a complete shock to you. After all, Ilene did get our hopes up when she said this in the recent EW L Word Reunion:
"There’s certainly a chance. We talk about it all the time. When we went off the air in 2009, I think a lot of people thought, 'Okay, the baton is passed now, and there will be lots of shows that portray lesbian life.' There’s really nothing. It feels like maybe it should come back."
Happy queer Christmas!
