On Monday, May 23, The Gay, ​Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) will honor LGBT activists, allies, thought leaders and culture makers in its annual Respect Awards in New York City.
This year, George Stephanopoulos, Ali Wenworth, Ilene Chaiken, and Optimedia will be honored the star-studded awards ceremony held at at Cipriani 42nd Street.
Out lesbian broadcaster, Good Morning America's Robin Roberts will present ABC's George Stephanopoulos and his wife Ali Wentworth with an award for their commitment to the improvement of young people in marginalized communities through their funds, The Next Generation Initiative and The Children's Defense Fund.
Executive Producer of Empire, Ilene Chaiken, and creator of landmark lesbian TV show, The L Word, will be recognized for creating television characters that positively represent the LGBTQ community on primetime television.
