Plus, the U.K.s new lesbian-themed reality series.
Noomi Rapace, the sexy Swedish actress we know best from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, will be starring in a biopic about 1960s Swedish pop culture icon Anita Lindolm. With Twilight’s Catherine Hardwicke set to direct, we think this one will be a winner. [SheWired]
It isn’t very encouraging news to hear that a “porn baron” will be behind a new lesbian show. Richard Desmond, the owner of the U.K.’s Channel 5 and several adult channels has announced that the network will be launching a lesbian reality TV show called Candy Bar Girls, named after London’s iconic girl bar. It’s said to be about “the lives and loves of a group of young lesbians who work hard and party even harder.” Hmmm…sounds suspiciously like another lesbian reality show we know of. Check out the disturbing promo vid below. [Autostraddle]
Earlier in the week here at The Daily Gaydar, we spoke about Obama and his kinda-sorta-but-not-really support for marriage equality. Listen to our favorite lesbian newscaster Ms Rachel Maddow speak about it as well. Watch below. [AfterEllen]
Diablo Cody, the woman behind Juno and United States of Tara, the latter of which won a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comedy Series last year, will be moving from writer to director. She is set to direct a comedy about a young Christian conservative woman who loses her faith after surviving a plane crash and then heads to Vegas to live the life of sin and then finds her way back to her faith. Cody has assured fans that the idea behind the film is “comedy gold.” Ok Cody, we trust you. Will you watch it? [AfterEllen]
