Stockholm Pride Parade 2016

Who decides that you are LGBT? You do!

This year's campaign for Stockholm Pride was a unique collaboration between Stockholm Pride and key players from Stockholm's fashion and advertising worlds. The campaign, Who Decides, aimed to open up the conversation and to raise questions about the rights of LGBT individuals to live their own lives without judgment or restraint.

Stockholm Pride encouraged people to discuss how the opinions, legislation, and power plays of governments, culture, society at large, and families affect individual lives, right down to who has control over your body and what you do with it.

As a symbol of this year's theme, Stockholm Pride chose the mythological Roman goddess Justitia, often portrayed as blindfolded, to symbolize the need to think critically before blindly judging others.

Stockholm is widely regarded as one of the world's most beautiful cities, built on 14 islands, and layered in eight centuries of history and culture. The city has a reputation for its beauty, diversity, tolerance, and innovation where fashion, technology, music, film, and design thrive.

This year's Stockholm Pride was the largest Pride in Scandinavia. The Parade proceeded through the city on Pride Week Saturday July 30, as the single largest event of Stockholm Pride. It was a joyous and colorful manifestation of love and liberty, as well as a demonstration for everybody’s right to love whomever they want.

Each year the Parade is carried out under the freedom of assembly, and everyone is invited to participate or watch. The Parade features 45,000 participants, with 200 floats and vehicles, and attracts 450,000 spectators.
