Speculation builds about the two actresses who lovingly call each other “wife”.
Sheridan Smith and Wendy Glenn are causing a Sapphic stir on social media. The talented actresses have featured heavily in each other’s posts of late, frequently referring to one another as “wife”. But are they just besties expressing their purely platonic feelings of sisterhood and companionship? Or is their relationship, as many fans hope, something more romantic?
The Daily Mail certainly seems to think so. But then that particular rag does have a tendency to get themselves in a tizz whenever two women stand within three feet of each other in public. Is this another case of the dreaded gal pal syndrome? Or are all their loved-up messages and cosy, coupley selfies telling a different story?
Let's take a look at the virtual evidence. In a recent Instagram snap, Sheridan reposted one of Wendy's smouldering selfies with the caption, "Don't care what u say I miss my girl 🌈💞." Now my inner dyke detective can't help but feel my gaydar twitch whenever I see a rainbow and hearts in such close proximity. Isn't that emoji for "I'm in big, queer love?"
Sheridan added fuel to the rumour mill when she posted another shot of a bikini-clad Wendy, gushing, "Tell me the best way to propose to this girl?!"
So are these thespians lespians or let's-be-friends? A cheeky, gay gander at all their homoerotic Instas certainly makes things look promising. What do you think?
