Interview with Director of ZOE.MISPLACED

Tell us about your film-reviews – Zoe.Misplaced is an indie/drama feature film-reviews about everyday life from a (surprisingly) unexplored perspective. We follow Zoe, a gay 20-something, student, friend, sister, aunt and room-mate on a journey which is highly relatable regardless of your sexual orientation.

What made you want to make it? I've been wanting to make film-reviewss for a long time. I had been planning to get myself into the film-reviews industry somehow, whether that be here in Australia or overseas in Canada or America, but a friend helped me realise that even if I did get my foot in the door, it didn't mean I'd be living the dream and making film-reviewss. At least not for quite a few years.

Being a person who likes to see things happen sooner rather than later, I decided to take things into my own hands and make a film-reviews myself, without the production companies. The reason I chose to write a film-reviews like Zoe.Misplaced, is because as a lesbian, I was finding the amount of relatable lesbian film-reviewss in the market to be quite low. I myself wanted a film-reviews that focussed on the regular everyday highs, lows, wins and tribulations of being a lesbian in this world. And I thought the easiest and quickest way to see a film-reviews like that is to just make it. (Although I may have been incredibly wrong on the easy and quick part).

Why should LOTL readers see your film-reviews? – Readers of LOTL should see Zoe.Misplaced as it is a great way to support Local and Queer cinema. Zoe.Misplaced was made on a tiny budget. There are no special effects, high profile stars or glamourous gowns. There is however a great story which is executed by fantastic actors and captured by a passionate and talented crew. Though it will be impossible for everyone to enjoy the film-reviews as all taste is different, we do hope that people are able to experience and acknowledge the passion that we have put into this production. Although we do of course hope you enjoy the film-reviews also!
