Fronted by the androgynous lead Renee Phoenix, Fit For Rivals deliver us one killer track
On the heavier side of the musical spectrum, “Hit Me” slaps you in the face from the intro of the first few bars. Before you have time to recover you are grabbed by the verse and thrown into the chorus with a driving force.
Lead vocalist Renee Phoenix’s smoky voice croons, declaring there ain’t no point hitting her unless it’s “like a man” and as she growls through the track you can’t help but love it. The melody is infectious and the vocals have a quality that oozes raw energy, whilst the instrumentals are tight.
Fit for Rivals hail from Jacksonville Fl. and are fronted by the androgynous styled Phoenix and backed byThomas Amason (guitar and backing vocals), Dorman Panfoeder (drums), Eli Clark (bass, backing vocals), RufinoLomboy (lead guitar), and Duke Kitchens (keys and additional guitars).
The band already has millions of hits on YouTube for their previous tracks “Damage” and “Crash” and it’s obvious why – the music is solid, delivering a blend of grunge rock and punk similar to Bush, Hole and Foo Fighters.
