The Human Rights Arts & Film Festival (HRAFF) is back again, marking its 10th birthday, and boy have they pulled out some crackers to celebrate.
The festival has already kicked off its national tour in Melbourne, and will be hitting Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane, and Hobart in the next month.
Amongst a number of incredibly diverse films on the 2017 program are three standout queer stories:
The Pearl of Africa:
An internationally acclaimed story about love, discrimination and being transgender in Uganda (with filmmaker Q&A);
Check It:
An exploration of systemic oppression, identity, and self-determination in the colourful and dramatic resistance of gay and genderqueer teenagers;
The Freedom to Marry
A heart-warming documentary that chronicles the historic movement to the US Supreme Court and the landmark ruling for marriage equality.
